The food: Modern Irish
Bastible Dublin

Contemporary Irish dining from Barry Fitzgerald, former head chef at Etto and the Michelin starred Harwood Arms in London, focusing the best seasonal produce. After a five star review from the Irish Times shortly after opening in 2015 they were booked out months in advance, but thankfully things are back to normal. Reservations still advised.

CRITIC REVIEWS

Katy McGuinness, Irish Independent

"The main course is saddle and neck of lamb, the former slightly pink and tender; the latter unctuously dark and rich, served with roasted turnip, white beans and wild garlic. It's ostensibly a simple dish, yet so much more elevated than anything one is ever going to produce at home for Sunday lunch, and very, very good." Food 9/10. Value 9/10.

"...many would call this a (ferociously) trendy restaurant but do not let this put you off — there is a reason things become trendy and that is because they suit our mood right now and how could this be a bad thing? Go soon for the tightly focused and measured seasonal cooking, charming staff, and fine flavours." Food 7/10. Value 8/10.

Gillian Nelis, Sunday Business Post

"Two lovely cod and leek croquettes came with homemade kimchi and a spicy mayonnaise, while the beef carpaccio with little pieces of pickled pear and a proper salad cream was equally good. Mini doughnuts made with smoked Gubbeen and wheat beer were heavy, but irresistibly tasty."

Catherine Cleary, The Irish Times

"Bastible is not another neighbourhood restaurant. It’s the best restaurant I’ve been to in Dublin this year." 5/5
