The food: Indonesian
Indonesian food served tapas style in various 'Rijst Tafel', including Javanese curries, fish in banana leaf and short rib of beef - all solid introductions to the cuisine. Lavishly decorated rooms drowning in plush pillows, where diners can sit on the floor like Indonesians do, or (for the posturally-inclined) at a table. Pescatarians and vegetarians are well catered for.

"I've heard so many good things about the bao at Chameleon that we order four variations. And yes, they are perfect pillows of dough filled with flavour, our favourite being the sliced pork belly with pineapple compote, a felicitous balance of rich meat cut through with the sharpness of the fruit." Food 8/10. Value 8/10.

"Indonesian satay sauce is thicker, not as jammy and sweet as the Thai version and so it is here, where the brown paste tastes obviously house-made. It’s spooned over chicken on a stick: not the white, tasteless, battery breast you often get at this price level, but free range brown leg and wing meat..." 4/5.
