LIATH

Blackrock Market, 19a Main St, Blackrock, Co. Dublin
The food: Modern Irish

One of the most hard to get tables in Dublin, everything changed for 22 seat Heron & Grey when Michelin awarded them a star in 2016, and more changes came at the end of 2018 when owners Andrew Heron & Damien Grey announced they were going their separate ways with chef Damien continuing in the same space under the name 'Liath', and business continuing more or less as usual. Reservations open once a month and books out in minutes, so you’ll need to be primed and ready to be in with a chance of getting a table. If you do, expect to experience some of the most exciting cooking in the country.

"Every dish in the eight-course-minimum tasting menu Tasting Dinner Menu (€96) is complex, with some involving hours, or even months, of preparation, but the textures and flavours will hit you like a bolt of lightning."

Catherine Cleary, Irish Times

"This is not a place of stiff service and reverential whispering. It’s just beautiful and joyful, reverent and irreverent in equal measure and we need as much of those experiences as we can get."

Katy McGuinness, Irish Independent

"Damien Grey's food keeps getting more refined - and because Liath doesn't (yet) have a Michelin star, it's something of a bargain." Food 10/10. Value 10/10.

"...it was an exquisite experience; a subtle sophisticated journey through complex tastes and textures of land, sea, rivers and forests, with ethereal elements and gossamer-thin finishing touches."

Gillian Nelis, The Sunday Business Post

31 Mar 2019

"...in this unique, happy, buzzy space, you’ll eat some of the most interesting food currently being cooked on this island."
