The food: Seafood, small plates

The follow up and little brother to southside seafood destination Michael's. Little Mike's was opened a few doors down to alleviate pressure from the main restaurant, but looks like it's going to become a destination in its own right. The "freshest seafood possible" ethos is continued here with Dublin Bay Prawns, whole fish and whelks on toast staples, and the wine list is full of interesting and unusual bottles at non-gouging prices.

"This plate of fishy perfection came swimming in lemon butter, and accompanied by top-drawer chips. I loved all of it, but I’d have to single out the sole for particular praise; it was one of the best-cooked pieces of fish I’ve ever eaten, and I can still taste it as I write."

"Little Mike's is the best place to eat seafood in Dublin." Food 10/10. Value 9/10.

"I hadn’t had [whelks] for years but, chopped up and drenched in garlic, ginger and lemon butter, served on a crouton, I’m a convert. Everything at Little Mike’s seems like it’s dripping with delicious butter combos, and everything tastes better with butter!"

Leslie Williams, The Irish Examiner

"With cooking this good I’m not sure Little Mike’s is going to take any pressure off the main restaurant — I suspect it will be equally busy and Gaz may need to buy the whole street." Food 9.5/10. Value 9/10.

Tom Doorley, Irish Daily Mail

"Little Mike's is a delight, with its bright open kitchen and bar, and dark, warm "snug" and food that revels in simplicity and freshness. Plus there's an extensive and very thoughtful wine list which has been compiled over the past three months by Talha Pasha."
