40 restaurants ideal for a group dinner In Dublin

One of the most frequent questions we get asked every week is "where should I book for a group?" There's generally a caveat - we have veggies/vegans, need gluten free options, have older family members who can't handle too much noise, a fussy eater who needs plainer options - group dining is not for the faint of heart. Below you'll find our top choices in Dublin for private dining rooms, set menus to satisfy a wide range of tastes and budgets, and big splurges for those serious celebrations...

Dublin 2

Fade Street Tavern, Fade Street

For a casual group dinner where nobody wants to sit through a formal three courses, head for Dylan McGrath's Chicago-inspired pizza bar, Fade Street Tavern. The star attraction is the thin, crispy, square-cut tavern pies, with bigger Grandma-style pizzas and 18-inch New York-style monsters to satisfy even the most seriously hungry (and you can take leftover homes for the following day). Add in organic and biodynamic wines, cocktails developed with Bar 1661, and a location that lets you keep the night going after dinner, and it's ticking a lot of boxes. Book for up 10 online or contact them about larger bookings. (Read our review here)

Mark Moriarty Studio, Wilton Park

If you've got a serious occasion to celebrate, and the budget to match, Mark Moriarty's new Studio at Wilton Park should be high on your wish list. Available for private dining and events from Monday to Thursday, the space can accommodate up to 24 guests, seated around the open kitchen counter or at tables, with menus tailored to your group. Expect the very best Irish produce, with dishes like Kilmore Quay cod with langoustine jus, and Donegal milk-fed lamb, and a front-row seat for all the action. Friday's open-to-the-public tasting menu is €150 a head, but private events can be designed around different formats and budgets (just don't expect it to be less). This is one for a milestone birthday, or a very generous boss.

Bah 33, Dawson Street

If your group is full of committed carnivores, you need to find an occasion for Brazilian steakhouse Bah 33 on Dawson Street. Their all-you-can-eat Gaucho BBQ experience is €62.90 a head, with skewers of Irish beef, pork, chicken and lamb brought around to the table and carved until you surrender (or turn your little card from green to red). There's also a buffet of salads and hot dishes, plus a vegetarian alternative for anyone not interested in a meat marathon. It's lively, fun, and the kind of dinner where no one will leave hungry.
