The food: Modern Irish
Some of the most exciting cooking in Dublin from Ciaran Sweeney, head chef at Forest and Marcy, the wine bar and kitchen on Leeson St. The second opening from the husband and wife team behind Forest Avenue, Sandy and John, this seems to have already surpassed its sibling’s lofty achievements. Great wine and proper hospitality from charming staff.
CRITIC REVIEWS

"I don’t take notes during restaurant reviews but I do sometimes record parts of the meal with my phone so that I can better remember impressions and details. I smiled as I listened back at the number of oohs and ahhs, mixed with expletives, exclamations of the Lord’s name, “taste this!” and “wow”. Food 8.5/10. Value 8/10.

"The fermented potato bread dish deserves its own plaque on the wall outside, saying “Here lives the perfect plate of Irish food”. Sweeney cooks, blends, salts and then ferments the potatoes for 10 days before whipping them into a thick wedge of potato bread and frying in butter." 8.5/10
