5 things we want to eat in Dublin this week

Autumn has officially arrived, or at least the clouds have, but we’re still holding out
for those brief flashes of Dublin sunshine. Thankfully September’s specials are giving
us plenty of reasons to embrace the new season. Here are the fab five we
can’t stop thinking about this week...

1) Blackberry medovyk sour cream croissant, Elliot’s
Elliot’s has several September specials, but the blackberry medovyk sour cream
croissant had our eyes feeling bigger than our stomachs. Layers of pastry, jammy
blackberries and sour cream are sat on top of a medovyk filling (Ukrainian honey cake) - pair with a cuppa and your Autumn treat yo self order is sorted.
2) Smoked duck sandwich, Tír Deli
Tír Deli on Hatch Street has piled smoked duck, cucumber salad, apple and
blackberry hoisin, and duck-fat mayo into an Oak Smoked Bakery ciabatta, before
finishing it with toasted crumbs. The juicy duck and fruity hoisin had us interested,
but the duck-fat mayo and crumbs sealed the deal. Pick one up, find a bench in the Iveagh Gardens and contemplate swapping the summer wardrobe out for the autumn one.
3) Dinish Island crab and prawn spaghetti, Lottie’s
It's time to pack on the pasta pounds, and Lottie’s in Rathmines is an enabler with this spaghetti loaded with Dinish Island crab, prawns, datterini tomatoes, lemon
and chilli. It’s generous, glossy and just summery enough to transport us back to
the beach, even if the city's weather forecast has other ideas.
4) Breakfast burrito, Mad Yolks
Mad Yolks has us setting an earlier alarm for its Liliput chorizo breakfast burrito.
Stuffed with free-range eggs, bacon, hash browns, avocado and plenty of melted
cheese, it looks like the kind of breakfast that could cure just about anything you got yourself into last night. We’ll take ours with extra napkins and no plans to share.
5) Rack of lamb at Rhythm and Roast, The Libertine
The Libertine in Dublin 8 launched its Rhythm and Roast series on Sunday 6th September (happening again on the 20th), pairing a whole rack of lamb or a côte de boeuf with live jazz from Eric Doyle. The Instagram peek stars two tender, perfectly pink roast options, glossy red wine jus and all the sides. Sunday roast and live jazz under one roof? Name a nicer way to spend a September Sunday...
