We thought last year was peak Christmas sandwich hysteria, but each year it seems to shift into a new gear. - We nearly fainted this morning when one of our readers sent us images of fire trucks outside Variety Jones, but thankfully the team said it was a smoke issue and there was no fire. - Gloria Osteria officially opened on Thursday, and they had an expectedly OTT party  to kick it all off   - Dion in Central Plaza was supposed to open last weekend, but instead cancelled people's bookings  by automated email, leaving them table-less with little explanation. Not a great start, and they're still not open   - The Animal Collective (the guys behind Bonobo and Caribou) have quietly opened their new bar Daphni in Boland's Mills   - Dublin's Comet and Belfast's Bea

- Formerly Smithfield-based Token is reopening in the IFSC  under new Bodytonic management   - Finglas food truck Papi's was set on fire during the week, with the Venezuelan/Portugese owners losing everything. - Very exciting news this week that Drury Street's Mani are moving to a bigger space  across the road, where Juanitos used to be, meaning more space, more seats, and customer toilets.
