Old Street, Malahide, Co. Dublin
The food: Modern Irish
Old Street, Dublin

One of a new wave of modern Irish restaurants currently reinvigorating the city, Old Street was opened in early 2017 by husband and wife Mark and Adriana, who spent eighteen months (and spared no expense) renovating two cottages on Malahide’s Old Street. Seasonal dishes and locally sourced ingredients come from a talented kitchen team, and the hospitality is taken as seriously as the food. Extensive, interesting wine list.

"At Old Street, Caffrey is running a kitchen that's full of ambition, but that also never lets technique dominate at the expense of flavour."

Katy McGuinness, Irish Independent

"We start with a salad of chargrilled asparagus with prosciutto, which comes with a richly savoury St Tola custard, peaches, walnuts and black truffle, truly a perfect summer dish." Food 9/10. Value 8/10.

Catherine Cleary, The Irish Times

"Old Street is a wow in many ways. The building has style in spades. With a little more reach from the kitchen, substance should follow." 7/10.

Lucinda O'Sullivan, Sunday Independent

"As much thought has gone into the new-wave food as the design, you won’t find any short order cooks knocking out the grub here!"
